Jacob was the 4th child born to Peter Scheer and Wilhelmina Lang. He was a brass worker and invented the single spigot facet for both cold and hot water.

Jacob first married Sophia Hess Hartlerode in 1909. Sophia had two children, Gladys Hartlerode and Arthur Victor Hartlerode. Sophia died on 23 Mar 1916 from hyperthyroidism. Jacob declined to be the administrator of her estate and had his father Peter Scheer appointed instead.

Jacob married second Helen Dolinszky, an immigrant from Slovakia in 1916 and they had one chid, Raymond George who was born in 1923.

In 1925 Jacob died when he was 38, leaving his wife with their 2-year-old son.

He is buried in the Scheer family plot (203) at St Joseph's Cemetery. His parents, Peter Scheer and Wilhelmina Lang, Grandparents, Jacob and Mary Lang, and some of his brother's and sisters are also buried at the same family plot.
