From Holland St.John - "John was the son of Robert H. and Margaret(Burlison) Duckworth of Posey County, Indiana. He was born on January 20, 1831, the eldest of nine children. His parents were successful farmers in Black Township and in 1870 their property was valued at $10,840 which was one of the highest valued farm properties in the county. His brothers and sisters included Mary, Rachel, Aaron, Robert H., Volley Emaline, William, Dorcus and David. On September 7, 1860 John married Margaret York and estabished a farm also in Black Township, Posey County. Margaret was twenty-eight at the time and the daughter of Shubel and Hannah York. The census of that year records that they had a son named Shebal who was two years of age. A farm hand named Aaron Burlison, age seventeen, was living with the young couple. Very likely Aaron was related to John's mother who was a Burlison. John's farm had value of real estate at $800 and personal value of $400. Living next door were his parents and five of his brothers and sisters. One source recorded that John passed away on July 14, 1862 in Posey County; however, this has not been verified. No further information has been found of Robert and Margaret's family. His parents are buried in the Phillips Cemetery located near Farmersville, and one source indicates that he is also interred there. Further evidence is needed to verify it, however."
