Radio Producer. Himan Brown produced Inner Sanctum Mysteries, The Thin Man, and many other popular dramas and thrillers in the 1930s through the 1950s. He received many awards during this time, including the Mystery Writers of America Raven Award for Inner Sanctum in 1948. He also produced the critically acclaimed CBS Radio Mystery Theater during the radio revival of the 1970s, for which he received the Peabody Award and another Mystery Writers of America Raven Award. For his lifetime achievements in broadcasting, the Museum of Broadcast Communication inducted him into their Radio Hall of Fame in 1995. In later life he devoted himself to philanthropical and educational projects. He died of natural causes in his Central Park West apartment, where he had resided since 1938. His granddaughter has indicated in media interviews that Brown was cremated and the family has received his ashes.
