Sybil Blackmon Fowler (1933 - 2010)

Sybil Blackmon Fowler, 77 of Pace, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on August 14, 2010. Mrs. Fowler was a faithful congregational member of Cobbtown Holiness Church.
She was born on February 15, 1933 in Opp, Alabama and a native of Jay Florida, where she met the love of her life, married and moved to Pace. She was a 1951 graduate of Jay High School.
Mom was preceded in death by her loving parents Robert and Lola Jordan Blackmon, Brother Dannie Ray Blackmon and Sister Mary Nell McNab.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Oscar Samuel Fowler Sr., Sons Samuel (Cheryl) Fowler and Jerry Fowler. Daughters Barbara (Roy) Nims, and Glenda (Todd) Peck all of Pace, Seven loving Grandchildren, Jeremy (Ashley) Fowler, Pace FL. Faith (Brad) Ford, Birmingham AL. Troy (Alisha) Nims, Pensacola FL. Jodi (Rob) Jackson, Pace FL. Ryan (Tracy) Fowler, Pace FL. Geoffrey Peck, Pensacola FL. and Gena Peck of Pace FL. Five Great-grandchildren Bryant and Sybella Ford, Blu Nims, Rylynn Fowler and the much anticipated arrival of Baby Boy Jackson in the fall. Brothers: Robert (Hazel) Blackmon Jr. Billy (Janice) Blackmon, Sister Annette (Floyd) Cobb of Jay and Brother- In- Law Bobby McNab of Centerville, Va. Brothers and Sister-In-Laws that was very special to her: Myrtle Fowler, of Milton FL. Daisy Fowler, Evelyn Byrd, Erma Chaffin, Ethel Irene (Donald) Enfinger, Marvin (Pat) Fowler of Pace FL. and Bessie (James) Austin of Jasper, Ga. She had many loving and caring Nieces, Nephews, friends and church family.
Mom loved being a Homemaker and having the pleasure of being at home for her husband and her four children, she loved and spoiled each of her grandchildren and had started on a new generation of great grandchildren. She loved her church and held positions in the church that were behind the scene, addressing newsletters, cooking for a needing family, assisting in the nursery or a Sunday school class. She was an active member of the WMC's. She was a woman that her children, grandchildren could depend on to be a prayer warrior, she read and studied the Bible and often wrote her favorite passages in the pages of her Bible.
Sybil's home going services will be held at 2 P.M. on Tuesday August 17, 2010 at Jay Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Lassiter and Rev. Jeff McKee officiating. Interment will follow at Concord Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 P.M. on Monday August 16, 2010. Sybil's Nephews will serve as Pallbearers, Jeff Wolfe, Wayne Blackmon, Glen Blackmon, Bruce Watson, Preston Blackmon, Scott Blackmon and Brandon Urnick all of Jay.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Donald Enfinger, Marvin Fowler, James Austin, Earl Wendt, Leon Weeks and Leman Thompson.
The family would like to express our greatest gratitude to Donnie Sowell and the incredible staff of 5 West at Sacred Heart Hospital and to the staff of Emerald Coast Hospice, especially Maureen Thompson for all the love and care given to my Wife and Mother. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cobbtown Christian Academy, in celebration of their founding year at 4700 Greenwood Road, Jay, FL. 32565.
