He was an honorably-discharged veteran, having served as a Corporal in the United States Army's 398th Engineer General Service Regiment in the European Theater of Operations during the Second World War which arrived in Luxembourg on December 23, 1943, 8 days after the start of the Battle of the Bulge.
He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1982.
Anthony was a member of Espiritu Santo Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents: Maria and Angel Diez (Lopez), and his two sisters, Josephine Diez Chiarella, and Rose Diez Rich.
