The 9/27/1884 edition of the New York Times stated that Mr. Tienken became ill from taking an overdose of ammonia to alleviate pain. He did pass away several months later. He was a member of Steuben Lodge, No. 133, I. O. O.F. and the Ringgold Mutual Association. He lived on Waverly Avenue in Flatbush.
