Dorris Caroline Francis, 94, formerly of Sellersville and Philadelphia, passed on May 2, in her residence at the Masonic Village at Warminster. She was the wife of the late Andrew R. Francis. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late George and Anna (Pillion) Strohl and stepdaughter of the late Elizabeth (Gorrell) Strohl. She had been employed as an executive secretary at Keystone AAA, Philadelphia. A lifelong Lutheran, Dorris was most recently a member of St. Michaels Lutheran Church, Sellersville. Mrs. Francis was a past member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem and a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Lenape Chapter. As a young woman, she had volunteered as a Girl Scout leader. She later volunteered for the American Cancer Society , RSVP of Bucks County and Grand View Hospital, Sellersville. Dorris studied oil painting at the Pennridge Senior Center, Perkasie, and proudly gifted her many paintings to family members. She also won awards at the state level. Survivors: She is survived by her two daughters, Elaine A. Balinski and her husband, John J., of Quakertown, Carolyn J. Swartz and her husband, Joseph J., of Pennsburg; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Strohl, and a step-brother, Louis Laubengeyer. Services: A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 5, at 11 a.m. in St. Michaels Lutheran Church, 25 East Church Street, Sellersville, PA 18960. Family and friends may call at the church Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment in Sellersville Cemetery.
