Alice Mae Gifford, 90, LaBelle, died at 7:23 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 1993 in the LaBelle Manor Care Center. Born July 1, 1902, in Monticello, Mrs. Gifford was a daughter of Jared and Bessie Gruber Woodworth. She married Frank Gifford June 24, 1924 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on December 11, 1992. Mrs. Gifford was a 50 year member of the First Methodist Church of Ferguson, where she was aprimary Sunday School teacher. She was a milliner for many years in the St. Louis area before moving to LaBelle. in 1986. Survivors include two sisters, Ella Hill of Seattle, Washington, and Annie Havens of Quincy, and one brother, Charles "Shorty" Woodworth of Mexico. Several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister. Services were conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in the Coder Funeral Chapel by Dr. Fred Taylor of Bull Shoals, Ark. Burial was in the Versailles, Illinois cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of LaBelle.
