LeRoy Shryock, 83, of Olney, died at 1:12 p.m. Tuesday, August 24, 20100, at Burgin Manor in Olney.

Burial will be in Crest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery in rural Claremont with full military rites performed by Olney veterans.

Mr. Shryock was born June 25, 1927, in Jasper County, the son of Roy Grant and Catherine Francis Kate (Menacher) Shryock. He married Helen Pauline Eckel on June 7, 1948, in Henderson, Ky. She preceded him in death October 9, 1986.

He had worked in the oilfield for Marathon. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II, and was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.

Mr. Shryock is survived by his daughter, Janet Roth and her companion, Doug Shehorn, of Olney; son, Scott Shryock and his wife, Dallalee, of Noble; son, Eric Shryock, of Olney; son, Paul Shryock, of Olney; brother, George Shryock and his wife, Sue, of College Station, Texas; brother, Ronald Shryock and his wife, Patricia, of Gaylord, Mich.; sister, Imogene Riegel and her husband, Robert, of Springfield; sister, Carol Jenkins, of Cahokia; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Grant and Catherine Francis Kate Shryock; wife, Helen Pauline Shryock; grandson, Jamie; brothers, Rex and Bryl; and sister, Deloris Henry.
