Mrs. Elizabeth Akers died at the residence of her greandddaughter, Mrs. Andrew E. Joiner, on S. Main street at the age of 76 years. She was ill only a week, and previous to that time enjoyed excellent health for one of her age. At the time, she was taken ill a blood vessel near one of her ankles ws ruptured and gradually the limb became swollen and gangrene set in, resulting in her death.
She had resided in Lambertville her entire life and was familiarly known by almost everybody as "Grandma Akers."
She was buried in the family plot in Mount Hope Cemetery, by the side of her late husband, Uriah Akers, who died July 29, 1888, aged 85 years.
Her obituary was published in the Lambertville Beacon on August 16, 1889.
