Inez Stafford Abbott
Mt. Clemens - Inez Stafford Abbott, 86, of Mt. Clemens and formerly of Port Huron, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2005 in Evangelical Home, Port Huron.
She was born to Willie and Lillie Walters on June 4, 1919 in St. Clair, graduated from St. Clair High School and married William Stephen Stafford on August 26, 1940. He passed away July 30, 1968. She then married Robert C. Abott on February 15, 1974. He died January 28, 2005.
For many years, Inez was an active participant in the Mariner's Boat Club in Harrison Twp. She also enjoyed playing cards.
She is survived by her son, Richard Stafford of Long Beach, Ca.; two step-sons, Douglas (Robin) Abbott of Harrison Twp. and Gary (Christine) Abbott of Grand Blanc; four grandchildren, Timothy (Cristine) Abbott of Grand Blanc; four grandchildren,Timothy (Kristin) Abbott of Chesterfield Twp., Katherine Abbott of Phoenix, AZ, Andrew (Kristin) Abbott of Northville and Robert Abbott of Ferndale; a great-grandson, Tyler Abbott; three brothers, Raymond (Verda) and Melvin (Irene) Walters and Melvin (Irene) Walters, both of St. Clair and Harold Walters of Bandor, Or.; a sister, Florence Sass of Marysville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Stafford, who died December 21, 1969, a casualty of the Vietnam Conflict. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Frances Taylor and Evelyn and John Emig; and a sister Alice Walters.
The funeral service will be at 1 P.M. Wednesday December 21, 2005 in Smith Family Funeral Home-North, 1525 Hancock St. The Rev. Jane Rathman, pastor of St. Matthews United Church of Christ Casco, will officiate. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery.
Visitation will be in the funeral home from 3 to 8 P.M. today and on Wednesday beginning at 12:15 P.M.
