Mr. Clark died at his home in Fairbury, Nebr., 807 D St., at 8:45 a. m., Tuesday, July 26, from weakness of old age, being 73 years and 9 months old.
He had been staying at the Soldiers Home in Grand Island for the past few years running a barber shop there, and had only recently visited in Fairbury. He was taken sick at Grand Island and came home about two weeks ago.
Mr. Clark was born in Williams county, Ohio, July 17, 1847. He joined the Union army in 1864, serving in Co. F, 27th Iowa Vol. Infantry. On July 11, 1869, he was married to Helen M. Wallace. They lived in Iowa for a time, moving to Mankato, Kans., in 1873 and to Edgar, Nebr., in 1882. In 1884, the family came to Fairbury which has been their home ever since. Mr. Clark followed his trade of barber during his life time. He was an active member of the Odd Fellows for many years, served as chief of police of Fairbury at various times and was a candidate for sheriff of this county several years ago.
He is survived by his wife and three children, O. J. Clark, Chas. W. Clark and Geo. Clark, all of Fairbury. He leaves one brother, Wm. H. Clark of Phillipsburg, Kans.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10 o'clock at the M. E. church in Fairbury. Rev. Davies of the Presbyterian church holding services.
