Edward Evans was born at Penfield, Pa. on April 11, 1877, and died at the home of his parents, Peter and Rosa Evans, near Penfield, on Oct. 19, 1892.
Edward was a quiet and gentlemanly boy well liked by everyone. Passionately fond of hunting, it cost him his life. On Friday, Oct. 28, with Ben Radebach he went hunting on the hills of W.D. Woodward Jr. farm, standing on a log his gun slipped, the lock struck and discharged, tearing his lef arm to pieces. He walked to the Woodward farm house, and was then helped home. Drs. Sullivan of DuBois and Lewis of Penfield performed the amputation of the arm at the socket, at 10 p.m., At 4 a.m. the boy died form heart clot.
In his last hours, he bore up moss bravely, only lamenting that he was causing his parents so much trouble.
The funeral was at the home on Monday, Rev. J.J. Rankin and Thos. B. Buoy, Director, in charge, assisted by W.D. Woodward, Jr. and Geo. R. Campbell. The interment was at Bundy Cemetery.
