"Across the lots north of the Holcomb monument will be found the grave of Gen. George Cooke who died January 12, 1873. Dr. Cooke should be remembered, if for nothing else, for the fact that he gave to the Young Men's Association $1,000 which was spent between 1834 and 1852 for books of his own selection, many of which remain in the library. His bust was for some time in the rooms of the association, but it was finally deposited upon his grave ([Section] 95), and is the only bust in the Cemetery."
