According to Massachusetts: Vital Records, 1620-1850, Mary Thurber married Oliver Mason on April 25, 1765. Here is the quotation: "Oliver Mason of Swanzey and Mary Thurber of Rehoboth was marred april ye 25:1765 By Russell Mason Elder of a Church of Crist In Swanzey." This was Oliver Mason's 2nd marriage. His first wife, Pheobe Martin, died in 1763 in Sackville, Nova Scotia during the time they were helping Oliver's brother start a Baptist church. Upon her death, Oliver and his children returned to Swansea, MA. Two years later he married Mary Thurber. They had five children:

Martha Mason: Birth: 2 Apr 1766 in Richmond, Cheshire, New Hampshire, USA. Death: Jan 1855 in Homer, Cortland, New York, USA

Isaac Mason: Birth: Feb 1768 in Richmond, Cheshire, New Hampshire, USA. Death: in Rockingham, Vermont

Samuel Mason: Birth: 22 Mar 1771 in Richmond, Cheshire, New Hampshire, USA. Death: 19 Mar 1842 in , , Vermont, USA

Daniel Mason: Birth: Mar 1773 in Richmond, Cheshire, New Hampshire, USA. Death: 20 Jul 1851 in Rockingham, Windham, Vermont, USA

Oliver Mason: Birth: 22 Mar 1776 in Richmond, Chittenden, Vermont, USA. Death: 1 Sep 1861 in St Charles, Kane, Illinois, USA

NOTE REGARDING IDENTITY OF MARY THURBER MASON

There are several Mary Thurbers:

1. Mary Thurber, daughter of Samuel Thurber & Rachel Wheeler, was born 15 Sept 1732 in Rehoboth, Bristol Co, MA; she died as an infant.

2. Mary Thurber, daughter of Samuel Thurber & Rachel Wheeler, was born 25 Jun 1736. She died on 9 Jul 1736. (This could not have been the death date of the first Mary because it was after the 2nd Mary was born).

2. Mary Thurber, daughter of Edward Thurber & Hannah Kingsley, was born 29 Feb 1748 in Providence, Providence Co, RI; and died Apr 21, 1820 in Saxtons River, Windham Co, VT

Some people confuse these three. Samuel's first Mary died prior to 25 Jun 1736 and the second Mary on 9 Jul 1736.

The first Mary's birth in 1732 is confirmed by:

The FindaGrave memorial for Samuel Thurber and Rachel Wheeler Thurber correctly list their daughter Mary's birth and death as [1732-1736]. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=33374836
They also list the second Mary as living [1736-1736].

So neither of Samuel's Mary could have been married to Oliver Mason. Please correct false information. Thanks.
