He married Margarette (Lewis) in Seattle on March 15, 1890. They had four sons: Thomas, Charles, John and William, and three daughters: Edith, Ethel and Margarette.
John was appointed the second Marshal of Issaquah in 1892. During his life he was an Alaska prospector and timberland developer. He was the owner of the West Coast Mine at Cedar Mountain, Washington.
His wife died on April 12, 1940 and both are buried at Greenwood Cemetery.
