Fannie Jansen was born in Golenkamp, Bentheim, Germany, she was the tenth child of Berend Jansen and Lyda Kuyer. She emigrated to the United States when she was an infant, and arrived in New York on January 5, 1886 with her parents and siblings. Her surname became Johnson in the US.

Here is a translation of her death notice, which was originally in Dutch.

On the morning of the 17th of November the angel entered our house for the first time in fifteen years, and took away our deceased daughter and sister FANNIE, aged 23, from among us. She was the youngest of 10 children and the first to be taken from us by death. Her youthful life was her Christ, and we trust that her death was her gain. This is our comfort in this difficult way.
