Married Martha Baker born 1897

Ray Conatser 61, of Whitley City, died Sept. 12 in Scott County Hospital following a heart attack suffered at his home a week previous.

Mr. Conatser was born at Jamestown, Teen. He went to McCreary Co. in the early twenties and worked in the lumber yard for Stearns Coal and Lumber Company. Later he started a general merchandise store at Revelo and later moved his business to Whitley City where he became one of the leading merchants. In recent years he expanded his business to Oneida, Tenn. and developed a thriving business there.

Mr. Conatser was a member of the First Baptist Church at Stearns and a member of Jamestown Lodge 281 F. & A.M.


He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Martha Baker Conatser, and three children; Don of Oneida, Roger of Whitley City and Mrs. Juanita Taylor of Port Arthur, Texas.

Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday at West Funeral Home Chapel in Oneida.
Rev. John Gilliand and Rev. W.M. Goodin officiated.
Burial was in the Conatser Cemetery in Fentress County, Tn. Jamestown Lodge 281 was in charge of graveside services.
