Frances Herr Thompson obituary--Lodi-Frances Herr Thompson, age 85, a lifelong resident of Lodi, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 1980, at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, the Henry Nelsons, in Elgin, Illinois. Survivors include a son, a daughter, six grandchildren, and a sister, Josephine Herr Cook of Madison. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Loper Thompson; a sister, Marion Herr Miller; and a brother, Vernon Herr. Frances was known as "Lodi's Galloping Grandma", and was one of the oldest members of the Lake Wisconsin Riding Club. She was a member of the Rural Woman's Club, the Lodi Garden Club, and an honorary member of the board of directors of the Lodi Union Agricultural Society. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at the Hamre Funeral Home in Lodi. Reverend G. Keith Schroerlucke will officiate. The body will be cremated, with interment of ashes at a later date at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, May 30, at the funeral home.
