ALASTAIR "AL" CAMPBELL, 75, was called to God's side on Saturday, March 4, 2006. Al was born in Glasgow , Scotland and was a veteran of the British Merchant Navy. He was a long-term member of the Houston Highlanders Bagpipe Band where he was a Past Pipe Major. Al was also a member of the Heather and Thistle Society and the Houston Grampian Society. He was a Marine Engineer where he pioneered and developed the method of optical alignment for turbo machinery. He worked 20 years with Dresser Industries and later retired from GE/Bently Nevada. Al is survived by his loving wife Betsy Campbell; his children Laura Campbell, Kenny Campbell and his wife Tracy, and Ann Campbell, his grandchildren Mackenzie and Tyler, his sister Moira MacKenzie, and numerous other loving family members and a host of friends. The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 8:30pm Tuesday at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road , Houston (713-465-2525). A memorial service celebrating Al's life wil! l be held at 11:00am Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, 12535 Perthshire, Houston.
