Wasil Pyren, a well known young man from Prospect Hill, met instant death in the mines of Alden Coal Company, yesterday morning at 10 am. Pyren was a "nipper" and while following a trip of cars was the victim of a runaway. It is said that one of the cars left the rails immediately after the rope broke. When the trip dashed down the slope, Pyren was unable to reach a place of safety.
He was 22 years old and had been employed by the Alden Coal Company for several years.
The body was taken to the home of his sister, of whom he made his home. The funeral will be held on Friday.
