Maureen Johnson (Doots) Abbott, 80, of Cody Road, Nathalie, passed away Monday, Aug. 9, 2010, at her home.
She was the wife of the late Richard Elisha (Dickie) Abbott.
Mrs. Abbott was born in Charlotte County on Sept. 18, 1929, a daughter of the late Jesse Clearon Johnson and Araminta Mason Johnson. She was a member of Republican Grove Methodist Church and a former employee of Burlington Industries.
She is survived by two sons, Joel Abbott and David Abbott (Jeanette); two daughters, Kaye Smith (Freddie) and Jeaneen Abbott, all Republican Grove; five grandchildren, Angie Harris (Carl), Brittany, Jessica and Andrew Abbott, all of Republican Grove, and Zachary Abbott, of Richmond; two very special nieces, Dana Barksdale (M. E.), of Brookneal, and Betty Jo Dawson (Walter), of Republican Grove; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010, at Republican Grove Methodist Church by the Rev. Charles Johnson Jr. with interment to follow in the Abbott Family Cemetery, Republican Grove. The family will receive friends at the residence.
Memorial contributions may be made to Republican Grove Methodist Church.
