SPRINGFIELD - Shirley (Sawl) Meyers, 81, of Springfield died Sunday at Mercy Medical Center. Born in Holyoke she was a graduate of Holyoke High School. Shirley moved to Springfield in 1953. During WWII she had worked for the Springfield Ordinance District. She had also been a travel agent for the former Magic World Travel. She was a member of Kodimoh Synagogue, Hadassah, Springfield JCC and a member of their "Golden Girls", Jewish Nursing Home of W. Mass and had been a long time volunteer. Shirley was predeceased by 2 sons Allan who died in 2000 and Gary who died in March of 2003. She leaves her husband of 58 years, Raymond Meyers, a daughter Pamela Skerker of Glastonbury , CT a son Tony Goldman of New York, NY 2 daughters in law Anne Meyers and Priscilla Meyers both of Brookline, MA a brother Harold Sawl of Longmeadow, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. A graveside service will 12 p.m. Tuesday at City of Homes Cemetery . The Harold R. Ascher & Son Memorial Chapel is in charge. Memorial observance will be at the home of Raymond Meyers with evening services Tues. & Wed. Donations may be made to Kodimoh Synagogue, 124 Sumner Avenue, Springfield, MA 01108, Raymond & Shirley Meyers Scholarship Fund at WNEC 1215 Wilbraham Rd. Springfield, MA 01119, Allan Meyers Fund c/o Boston Foundation 75 Arlington St, Boston, MA 02116 or to the charity of one's choice.
