Pauline F. (Gerke) Starke, age 54, of Sedalia, died Saturday, August 21, 2010 at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

She was born October 4, 1955, in Sedalia, a daughter of Andrew and Emilie Gerke. She was married on November 8, 1975, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Clifton City, to David L. Starke, who survives of the home. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and later of St. Patrick Church in Sedalia.

She graduated from Otterville High School in 1973. In her early years, Pauline worked at Lamy's, Town & Country Shoes and First State Savings. She then took several years off to raise her children, help coach their soccer, softball, and baseball teams, serve ten years on the Booster Club at Smithton High School, and teach CCD at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Pauline worked at the Center for Human Services for ten years, and for the past 11 years, was employed at Lafarge/APAC.

She enjoyed spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed watching her grandsons play sports, going on family vacations, and watching and attending NASCAR events.

Pauline is also survived by two sons, Chad Starke and wife, Kristy, and son, Gavin, Matthew Starke and son, Dillion, all of Sedalia; a daughter, Christina Starke and son, Kainan T. Harrell, of Columbia; her mother, Emilie Gerke, of Smithton; four sisters, Emilie Herigon, and husband, Eugene, of Bunceton, Dorothy Bergman Brake, of Otterville, Margaret Ellebracht and husband, Joe, of Sedalia, Mary Gerke, of Kansas City; a brother, Pete Gerke and wife, Tina, of Sedalia; two sisters-in-law, Karen Gerke, of Smithton, Debbie DeGraff and husband, Doug, of Lee's Summit; a brother-in-law, Steve Starke, and wife, Toon, of Sedalia; David's parents, Jim & Elaine Starke, 22 nieces and nephews; 31 great nieces and nephews; and one great-great niece.

Pauline was preceded in death by her father, Andrew Gerke, Sr., and brother, Andrew Gerke, Jr.; a sister, Martha Schreck; and a brother-in-law, Paul Brake.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at St. Patrick Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Bill Miller officiating. Pallbearers will be Eugene Herigon, Joseph Ellebracht, Doug DeGraff, Steve Starke, Paul Bergman and Bradley Ellebracht. Honorary pallbearers will be Barbara Gibson, John Majors, Earl Fletchall, Greg Edwards, Robert "DJ" Butler and JR Warren. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Clifton City.

The rosary will begin at 6 pm on Monday, August 23, 2010 with visitation to follow until 8:30 pm at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the family in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
