Juana married Mariano Eliceche in Fresno on September 7, 1903. Of the union of Mr. and Mrs. Eliceche five children were born, as follows: Michael Marion, Geraldine E., Mary, Francis "Frank" John, and Joseph Vincent.
Mr. Eliceche, who was also born San Martin, Garzain, in the Province of Navarra, Spain, in 1873, was a gentleman engaged in the stock business in Fresno County up until the time of his death. Deciding the Pacific Coast held greater opportunities for a young man with energy and an ambition to work and succeed, in June 1897 he migrated to California at twenty five years of age, coming to Fresno County, where he was employed by a sheep man. A few years later, having accumulated some money, he purchased a small flock and began raising sheep on his own account.
About 1904, they went to Coalinga, where they made their residence and headquarters. Later they purchased land near Alcalde, and there engaged in ranching, running sheep and cattle in the hills. In 1914, Mariano became associated with Levy's in stock-raising, continued with them until his death. Mr. Eliceche passed away in San Francisco, CA., in February 15, 1918.
After her husband's death, Mrs. Eliceche sold the stock, rented her land and remained in Coalinga, where she reared and educated her children. The family were members of the Catholic Church. Eventually, Juana relocated to "R" Street in Fresno, then had a home built at 926 "S" Street, Fresno. Some years later, she purchased a home on Callisch, near Bullard Ave.
In 1925, Juana married Braulio Vived in Fresno, CA., and from this union a son was born in 1927 at 926 "S" Street.
Braulio Vived, also a Spaniard, having been born in Alfajarin, Aragon, Spain on March 26, 1889, immigrated to America in 1911. (During this period of California's history, many Europeans immigrated to the central San Joaquin Valley to gain employment at the numerous Miller and Lux ranches on the west side of Fresno County, located in San Joaquin, Mendota, Dos Palos and Los Banos, to name a few.) So, along with his father and brother, Braulio first began working at a Miller and Lux ranch in Mendota, until such time as they could save enough money to send for the rest of the family, and then purchase a few head of cattle to start their own dairy.
For reasons unknown, Juana and Braulio separated, and Juana, who dropped the Vived name, chose to remain in her home in Fresno to raise her children; while Braulio, along with his parents, lived on the dairy in Madera.
Juana Alvarez Eliceche Vived passed away in Fresno, CA on January 22, 1980. She was survived by her six children, and several grandchildren.
