A topographer for the Army AirCorps during World War II, he served with the 345th Station Complement Squadron. He received a Victory Medal, an American Theater Ribbon, a Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon and a Bronze Star. He was the first male to graduate from Wayne State with a degree in Home Economics. Originally owning Ernie's Home Repair, he became a Pattern Maker and then a wood model maker for GM which he continued with for 20 years. Past PTA president and in charge of school fairs, he was an avid Backgammon player, he was also loved to sail and built his own 15 ft. sailboat from wood and fiberglass. A lover of camping with his family, he also enjoyed bridge playing and became a Bridge Master and later organized tournaments and classes at Trowbridge. He also taught woodshop at the Southfield and Detroit Civic Centers for children and was a academic tutor for inner city youth. Active with the Senior Center in Livonia, Mr. Denenfeld was also a member of the Meyer Molly Auslander Family Club. His picture was featured in a book "Encounters with Remarkable Men".
