Actress. She is remembered as an American motion picture actress of the Hollywood silent movie era, from 1910s through the 1920s. By the time she was in Hollywood films, she was over the age of fifty and taking roles of "Ma" or "Granny." She appeared with actor William S. Hart in classic westerns such as "The Silent Man" in 1917 and "Tumbleweeds" in 1925. She had roles in such films as "The Aryan" and "The Jungle Child" in 1916, "Blue Blazes Rawden" in 1918 and "Hail the Woman" in 1921. A prolific actress, she appeared in at least 150 films with her last being "Red Hair" in 1928. At age sixteen, she began her career on the theatre stage, appearing with many well-known leading men before her debut in films. Her crypt is located in an area of Hollywood Forever that has been closed to the public for many years.
