Robert Francis Allis, age 82, of 17 Kenilworth Terrace, Greenwich, died peacefully on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Bethel Health Care Center in Bethel.

Robert was born April 2, 1928 in Greenwich, son of the late John and Margaret Maier Allis.

He was a lifelong resident of Greenwich and an Army veteran. He was the proprietor of A&A garage in Greenwich from 1983 to 1994.

Robert enjoyed bowling and golfing. He was an avid Yankee and Giants fan. He loved to watch a good sports game and took pleasure in spending time with family and friends.

Robert is survived by five nieces, Joan Hancock of Danbury, Peggy Britton and husband, Gary of Spencer, Indiana, Deborah Lamoureux and husband, Robert of Greenwich, Virginia Allis of Stamford, Constance Allis of Stamford; one nephew, John Allis and wife, Nancy of Phoenix, Arizona; and several great-nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by two brothers, John and William Allis.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 20, 2010 in the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch Street, Greenwich, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at 10:00 a.m, in the Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in First Congregational Cemetery, 108 Sound Beach Avenue, Old Greenwich.
