Austrian-born daughter of Christian & Katerina Grossmann Hehne, natives of Germany; sister of Katerina Hehne Herold of Austria.

The wife of Thomas Kolba (1848-1925), she was listed among the First Class passengers of the North German-Lloyd liner SS Fuerst Bulow, which departed from Bremen, Germany for the port of New York. She came to reside in Harrison, NJ, c.1900, after construction of the Kolbas' new home on Kingsland Avenue had been completed. The location was chosen for its convenience to Worthington Pump Corporation, where her husband Thomas was employed as Chief Engineer. She was devoted to their only child, Rudolf (b.1882), and active in her church. Widowed in August 1925, she survived her husband by less than 3 months. In November 1925 she suffered a fatal heart attack and was buried beside him. Survivors included her son, Rudolf, and 4 of her 5 grandchildren: William (b.1911), Mary Kolba Schaaf (b.1913), Elizabeth (b.1921), & Edward (b.1923). An infant grandson, Thomas (b.1909), predeceased her and is buried nearby.
