Theodore "Ted" Berendsohn, a retired coffee executive, died Saturday (July 24, 1993) at his home in Chesterfield after a long illness. He was 84.

Mr. Berendsohn worked in the food industry for more than 50 years - mainly in the New York City and New Jersey areas where he grew up.

He moved to St. Louis in 1971 when he became president of the Old Judge Coffee Co. here. At the same time, he also was the executive vice president of Chock Full O' Nuts Co., the parent company of Old Judge Coffee. Mr. Berendsohn retired in 1980.

Mr. Berendsohn moved to Detroit area in the mid-1950s and worked as vice president of the Hy-Grade Co. through 1968.

A memorial Mass at St. Anselm (Priory) Catholic Church, 530 North Mason Road, Creve Coeur. His body was cremated.

Among the survivors are his wife, Mary Berendsohn of Chesterfield; a son, Bruce Berendsohn of Northport, Mich.; a daughter, Blair Blunda of Arlington, Va.; a sister, Helen Ryan of New York City; and five grandchildren.
