Gertrude Emma Marie Drescher, nee Baumgarten, age 78 of the City of Baraboo, passed away on Sunday, Apr 13, 1997, at the Sauk-Prairie Hospital in Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin.
Gertrude was born on September 26, 1918, in Baraboo, Wisconsin to the late Alexander and Ella Baumgarten. She married John L. Drescher on April 10, 1940, at St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. H. Kirchner presiding. Following their marriage, Gertrude lived in the Baraboo area her entire life. She was employed at the Badger Ammunition Plant, south of Baraboo. She had also worked at Henderson's Restaurant and the F. W. Woolworth's Dime Store. Her last employment was with the Baraboo Area Chamber of Commerce. This allowed her to visit with a great many people in the Baraboo Area which she greatly enjoyed. However, her greatest enjoyments were her children, grandchildren, family and friends. Gertrude will be greatly missed.
Survivors include 2 children, John (Pat) Drescher of Jackson, Wis. and Jerry Drescher of Fort Atkinson, Wis.; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; a sister Jody (Chuck) Reinfeldt of Baraboo, Wis.; a brother, Ralph (Ginny) Baumgarten of Madison, Wis.; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding Gertrude in death were her husband, John L. Drescher; and three sisters, Delores, Dorothy and Audrey.
Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Baraboo. Interment was made in Walnut Hill Cemetery.
