He made his first US film debut in "Fine Matters" (1926), followed by "Sorrows of Satan" (1926). Cast most in roles as a handsome villain, his credits include "Bombshell" (1933), "Passport to Alcatraz" (1940), "Foreign Agent" (1942), "California Conquest" (1952) and "The War of the Worlds" (1953), which was his last movie. He died in Los Angeles, California, of a heart attack at age 57.
