Sara Moss Bentley and her husband, Fred Bentley Sr., have long been known as strong patrons of the arts in Cobb County. Mrs. Bentley, 65, of Kennesaw, died Friday.

A Rome native, Mrs. Bentley and her husband, a former state representative from Marietta, donated a large collection of original literary works, including an original publication by Mark Twain, to Kennesaw State University and Breneau University. Mrs. Bentley was a graduate of the University of Georgia and was an honorary life member of Cummer Museum of Art, the founder of the Pink Ladies Refreshment Cart and the first president of the Kennestone Hospital Guild Ball. She was also a member of the Georgia Museum of Art and the Junior League in Marietta. Mrs. Bentley was a close friend of St. Simons author Eugenia Price, who died last year.

Services were held at Kennesaw United Methodist Church, with Dr. Nelson Price and Kennesaw State University President Dr. Betty Siegel officiating. Burial followed at Gresham Family Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband; sons Fred Douglas Bentley, Jr. and Robert Randall Bentley, Sr., both of Marietta; sister Charlotte Moss Johns of Marietta; and six grandchildren.
