Eldon Kennedy, age 83, of Quitman, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2010, at the Greenbrier Nursing and Rehab Center. Born in Fairbanks, Arkansas, on April 14, 1927, he was the son of the late Luster and Lula (Edwards) Kennedy.

A lifelong resident of Quitman, Mr. Kennedy was a retired telephone installer for Western Electric. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army Air Corps.


He was a Mason and a member of the Holland Masonic Lodge at Quitman. Mr. Kennedy enjoyed being outside working in his yard. He was a member of the Cedar Heights Free Will Baptist Church.

His wife, Nancy A. Kennedy, preceded him in death on May 3, 1987. Mr. Kennedy was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Edward Kennedy, Forace Kennedy, and Athel Kennedy; and three sisters, Elmus Pennington, Oleta Bittle, and Juanita Kincaid.

He is survived by two daughters, Donna Acre and her husband, Paul, of Greenbrier and Lisa Ingram and her husband, John, of Quitman; two brothers, Dois Kennedy of Ft. Smith and Junior Kennedy of Little Rock; six grandchildren, Haley Acre, Holly Acre, Hanna Acre, Stephanie Ingram, Paige Ingram, and Devin Ingram; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Kennedy is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.
