He came to Kansas after the death of his wife and lived with his son Samuel. He was a brother of William Bell Livingston and David Livingston. Samuel, William and David were some of the earliest settlers in Ellsworth County.

(Mem. #7883079). They were all Civil War veterans and early settlers of Ellsworth County Kansas.
