Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 4, 2019 at North Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Harry Stallings, retired Baptist minister officiating. Arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
She was born on September 23, 1926 in Gothenburg, NE to Harold F. and Elsie M. Earhart Carter. She married J. L. Blair on February 21, 1949 in Casper, WY. He died in 1988.
June was raised in Wyoming where the Carters and Earharts homesteaded on the Willwood outside of Powell.
She was a hairdresser for over 25 years, while in Wellington in the late 60's June worked for Allene Shanks and Mayme Lou Denley in their shops. She came back to Wellington in 1987 to be near family from Oregon. She cooked for the Home Delivered Meals program for 9 years and worked at the Collingsworth County Museum for many years.
June was also preceded in death by her parents, her twin brother Junior Carter and 2 sisters VaLaire Thornberry and Vivian Devoss.
She is survived by her daughter Cartha Haworth of Spring Branch, TX; a granddaughter Lesli Quint of Anchorage, AK; grandson Dane Haworth and wife Patti of Fayetteville, NC, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and their families in Texas, Wyoming and Oregon.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Collingsworth County Museum.
