Leenore H. Billinger, 74, 103 W. 20th, died Sunday, June 23, 1996 at the Hays Medical Center, St. Anthony Campus. She was born May 20, 1922 in Hays to Leo and Pauline (Arnhold) Bieker.

She married Michael D. Bieker on Oct. 7, 1941 in Hays. She and her husband owned and operated the Billinger Bakery, the Billinger Liquor Store and the Ellis County Star.

She attended the Girl's Catholic High School, Hays and the Marymount Catholic High School, Salina. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, the St. Joseph Altar Society and the Christian Mothers, the Daughters of Isabella, and the Hays Medical Center Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, of the home; two sons, Michael L. and Kim, Hays; a daughter, Sue Ellen Pfeifer, Hays; two sisters, Generose Bergman, Minneapolis, Minn., and Juanita Hoffman, Westminster, Colo.; three stepbrothers, Marcellus and Elmer Schmeidler, Minneapolis, Minn., and Albert Schmeidler, Albuquerque, N.M.; two stepsisters, Mary Anne Lang, Great Bend, and Isabella Staab, Stafford; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and a step great- grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a brother, LeRoy Bieker; a sister, Mary Ann Leiker; and three stepbrothers, Isadore, Robert and Joseph Schmeidler.

Services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Michael Scully officiating; burial in the church cemetery. A Hays Medical Center Auxiliary rosary begins at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine, followed by an Altar Society and Christian Mothers rosary at 3:30 p.m., a Daughters of Isabella rosary at 7 p.m., and a parish vigil at 8 p.m. Visitation is from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Thomas More Prep-Marian High School.
