Mr. Rust was born December 15, 1888, in Hastings, Minnesota; the son of Clarence B and Ella (Fitch) Rust. While still a young child, he moved with his family to Saint Paul, Minnesota where he spent his early life and received his early education there.
He came West while working with the railroad and homesteaded in eastern Montana between Richey and Bloomfield in 1909.
On August 5, 1913, he married Genevieve Farwell, who has since died. The couple lived in Glendive since 1923, where he had managed the Midland Coal & Lumber Company.
On February 24, 1945, he married Jean Webster in Roundup, Montana. They lived there until 1953 when they moved to southern Park County. They moved to Livingston in 1969. Mr. Rust had been retired since 1950. His wife died January 4, 1965.
Mr. Rust was a member of the Livingston Assembly of God Church and the Livingston Senior Citizens Center.
He is survived by two sons; two daughters; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Jay B Rust; Clarence L Rust; Harry L Rust; a sister, Florence Louise Anderson; and a granddaughter, Peggy Leslie.
Funeral services were held at the Franzen-Davis-Bebee Chapel, with the Reverend Duane Huey of the Livingston Assembly of God Church and the Reverend E.D. Nickelson of Cut Bank officiated. Burial was in the Park View Memorial Gardens, Livingston.
