Grand Rapids - Diane Melczarczyk, 52, of Grand Rapids, formerly of ST. Clair, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born January 11, 1955, in Saint Clair. She married Dennis Melczarczyk October 27, 1973 in Port Huron. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Clair and also Kentwood Community Church in Grand Rapids. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and spending time with her friends, family and three young granddaughters. Daine was a loving and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Diane took great pleasure working at Catholic Social Services as a prevention specialist; and most recently at Paul Rockwell D.D. S., as office manager in Grand Rapids.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Dennis Melczarczyk; her son, Michael (Stephanie) Melczarczyk; daughter, Lida (David) Buckland; granddaughters, Rylee and Madison Melczarczyk and Hailey Buckland; her mother and stepfather, Ann and Bill Macklem; brothers, John (Marilyn) Zimmer, Nick Zimmer and William (Linda) Zimmer; a sister, Carolyn (Jessee) Parker; father and mother-in-law, Eugene and Bernice Melczarczyk; sisters-in -law, Sharon (Gary) Robinson and Mary Ellen (Mike) Byington; and by many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Diane was preceded in death by her father, Nick Zimmer.
Visitation will be Saturday 6 - 9 P.M., Sunday 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 P.M. at Young Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in East Chine and 10 - 11 A.M. on Monday. Pastor Alan Schwieger will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, contribution may be made to the family which will be donated to help other cancer patients.
************Suggested edit: Recently was advised that Diane is NOT buried in St Marys Cemetery even though that is what her Death Certificate states. She is buried in Hillside Cemetery, Saint Clair, St. Clair County, Michigan, USA. Plot: Section 8; Lot 132, Grave 5.
