In addition to a daughter Sarah, the Minklers raised John Davis Leary who had been orphaned at a young age. In the 1850 census, Sarah's age is given as 3 years old, while John is listed as 5. Today the headstone for John Leary is to the right of the Minklers'.
An obituary in the Jun. 30, 1905 Bradner Advocate reads:
GRANDMA MINKLER PASSES AWAY
"Monday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Daniel Stahl, occurred the death of Mrs. Cleinine (sic) McCormick Minkler in her 88th year.
"Grandma Minkler was a grand woman and was honored and loved by all who knew her and her passing away will be the loss of a confiding friend to all.
"The deceased had lived near Bradner for sixty years and is survived by an only daughter, Mrs. Daniel Stahl.
"Funeral services were held at the Stahl residence Wednesday conducted by Rev. McNut of Prarie Depot. Interment in Bradner cemetery."
