Maggie E. Hand
Maggie E. Hand, 79-year-old widow of the late Horace Hand of Lavon Station and mother of R.K. Hand of Helena, died Wednesday in Butte.
Mrs. Hand was born in Orange County, Indiana, Mar. 17, 1867, and came to Montana in the early nineties to teach at Dewey's Flat on the Big Hole river.
Following her marriage to Mr. Hand she resided at Lavon station, where he engaged in ranching until his death in 1936. Mrs. Hand continued to reside at Lavon station until three years ago when she moved to Butte.
Surviving in addition to her son in Helena, are three daughters: Mrs. Nettie Garrison and Susan Hand of Butte, and Mrs. Lars Kalsta of Lavon station; another son, John Hand of Argenta; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services at Melrose church. Burial in Melrose cemetery.
