Ann Whitman age 7 years, living with her aunt and uncle in the 1850 census, she is not their daughter. She went by Ann because they had a daughter by the name of Phebe as well. Her full name is Phebe Ann Whitman, named for her aunt (Ira's wife). She's the daughter of Randall and Sarah Ann (Severence) Whitman. She is my 3rd Great Grandmother.

EDITOR GAZETTE: The house of Dr. D. M. Foster at Scottsburgh was entered by burglars Sunday evening last and nearly $20 taken from his pantaloon's pocket that hung on the bed post at the head of his bed. The family did not retire until 11 o'clock and were unaware of the presence of guests until the following morning. The Doctor left the window to his bedroom up, although the blinds were closed and through this window the entrance was made. A light was burning in an adjoining room but that seemed to be no "bugbear" for them. The Doctor says: " I think they were not very polite, for they did not even leave me a receipt or memorandum for their value, received." They also entered the house of Ira Whitman and thoroughly ransacked the pantry. Judging from the amount of provisions eaten, there must have been two of the thieves. Nothing else at this place was disturbed. As yet no clue to the perpetrators has been found.
