Melba Wright

MELBA LITCHFIELD WRIGHT, beloved wife of the late William W. Wright of Vauxhall, passed away in Lethbridge on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at the age of 90 years.

She is the loving mother of: Marie (Allen) Holthe of Turin, Ronald (Sheila) Wright of Vauxhall, Roy (Marlene) Wright of Vauxhall, Louise (Roy) Michelsen of Lethbridge, William A. (Louiene) Wright of Lethbridge, Karyn (Ken) Healey of Lethbridge, Harvey (Marsha) Wright of Cardston, Bruce (deceased) (Cheri) Wright of Cardston, and Glenda Wright of Lethbridge. Melba leaves behind 44 grandchildren, 98 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. She is also survived by brothers: Linden, Elden and Dean (Joyce) Litchfield; sisters: Iris Meldrum and Dorothy Francis; a brother-in-law Ivan (Willa) Wright; and sisters-in-law: Rita and Mabel Wright.

Melba was predeceased by her husband William W. Wright, a son Bruce Wright, brothers: Reid and Melvin Litchfield, and great grandchildren: Faith and Gabriel Michelsen.

Melba was born in Taber, AB December 30, 1916 to Joseph and Ferl (Carter) Litchfield. Her early years were spent at home on the banks of the Old Man River, north of Purple Springs. She spent her first year living with her grandmother and grandfather Litchfield in Raymond as her twin brother was ill. She attended a one room school house where she excelled in all the curriculum and won many awards for her efforts. Her passion in life was memorizing and composing poetry which she did till her last days. She was married December 26, 1934 and has resided in Vauxhall until her illness took her to Taber and then Lethbridge. She held many positions in her church and was a noted scriptorian. She loved gardening and preserving produce. She prided herself in being self-sufficient in her gardening and meat and poultry. She was gifted and loved quilting and making something beautiful from nothing. Anyone that visited the house never left hungry. Everyone that knew her loved her and that love was reciprocated by Melba.

Friends may meet the family on Sunday evening, June 10 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 Street North, Lethbridge, or prior to the service at the church on Monday from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 11, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, Vauxhall, Alberta with Bishop B. Burbank officiating. Interment in the Vauxhall Cemetery.
