"Wetzel Democrat", Dec. 20, 1907 (Wetzel Co., WV)
"Mrs. Elizabeth Howell, the oldest woman in Ohio, has just died at her home in Monroe County. The dissolution took place December 6 and was due to complications incident to old age. She had been ill but a short time, but prior to her illness she had enjoyed the best of health. She was a remarkable woman and had resided at Cameron practically all her life. She was the wife of John Howell whose death preceeded that of the wife a number of years ago. While her age is not exactly known the best estimation places it at 104 years. She was a membeer of the Church of Christ since early in youth. Mrs. Howell was the mother of six children: Lucinda Creig of St. Clairsville, OH; Mary Clegg of Parkersburg, WV; Abner Howell of New Martinsville, WV; Dave Howell of near Altitude, OH; Sadie & Emma Howell of Cameron, OH. The funeral services were conducted the following morning by Rev. Bucher after which the remains followed by a large concourse of relatives and friends of the deceased were laid to rest in the Goudy Cemetery beside those of her husband."
