Mr. Caldwell was killed Friday in a highway accident one and one-half miles south of Tipton on Highway 5. According to the Highway Patrol the accident occurred at 4:27 p.m. The auto in which Mr. Caldwell was riding was driven by William J. Ferguson of Kansas City who is in the Charles E. Still hospital where he is reported to be in fair condition. The auto collided with a two-ton truck driven by Paul Root of Blackwater.

Foley Edward Caldwell was born September 8, 1881, at Bagnell. He was the son of John Alfred and Mollie Vann Caldwell. He had resided in Kansas City for the past 30 years(sic) and was employed at the Menorah Medical Center in Kansas City. He was a member of the Kansas City Baptist Temple Church in Kansas City, Mo.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mae Caldwell of the home 3031 Forest, Kansas City, Mo., two daughters, Mrs. Irene Baxter and Mrs. Ilda Boots, both of Carthage; three sisters, Mrs. W. L. Howser of Colton, Calif. Mrs. Ira C. Bowden of Eldon and Mrs. Maude Simmons of Independence; one brother, Clarence Caldwell of Lake Ozark.

Also surviving are five stepsons, Irwin Connor of Leavenworth, Kansas, Orvis Connor of Eldon, Gordis and Ewell of Kansas City,Mo., and The Rev. C. L. Connor of Nevada, Mo.

~ NOTE; Foley had visited his sister, Jennie Bowden, earlier that day. She had tried to get him to stay the night. He refused as he wanted to get home.
