Funeral services were held Tuesday at Eidfjord Lutheran Church near Walum for Charles A. Heyerdahl of Hannaford and formerly of Walum. Mr. Heyerdahl died last Thursday (Jan. 8, 2009) in MeritCare Palliative Care South University Hospital in Fargo. He was 83.
Interment will be in Eidfjord Cemetery near Walum in the spring.
Charles Heyerdahl was born February 22, 1925 in Walum, the son of Carl and Anna (Sad) Heyerdahl. He grew up and attended school in Walum and graduated from Hannaford High School.
He married Martha Lunde on December 31, 1948 in Williston and they farmed and raised their children near Hannaford. In 1997, after his wife's passing, Mr. Heyerdahl split his time between Fargo and Hannaford.
Survivors include two sons, Eric of Hannaford and Gary of Cooperstown; two daughters, Linda Dahl of Horace and Pamela Hanson of Fargo; one sister, Dorothy Lommen; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and extended family, Nancy Decker, Sara Larsen and Ellie and Amy Ramlo.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two brothers, Earl and Erik; and three sisters, Eleanor Jordan, Margaret Agnew and Barbara Mahlke.
