Christian Keefer, Sr. was the son of Theobald Kieffer, a German immigrant. The publication titled "Biographical Annals of Franklin County" gives his birthplace as "near Kutztown" in Berks County, PA. An exact birth date is
not given in the publication. However, a search of familysearch.org by another findagrave.com member has yielded the possibility that Christian was born on 11 January 1768.

A transcription of his headstone on file at the Franklin County Historical Society indicates he was age 51 at death. Looking at the headstone in afternoon sun,the age to this descendant appears to be 57. Neither of those ages would agree with an 1768 birth. However, I will keep the birth year as 1768 on this memorial.

It was Christian who changed the spelling of the surname. Christian was married twice, first to Elizabeth Gsells (also spelled Sells and Sell; 1768-1800) and then to Anna Maria (Mary) Poorman (1785-1866). He had numerous children with each spouse. I believe that Elizabeth Gsell is the spouse buried at Zion. Anna is likely buried in Ohio, where she moved with daughter Julia Ann Smith.
