Ninth child and seventh son of Patrick Henry Delaney and Bridget Hickey Delaney. Early newspapers indicated that Patrick may have won or placed in a few community athletic competitions. In 1895 at the age of 14, he was selling newspapers and offering to shine shoes for buyers. The 1900 Census lists his occupation as apprentice plumber and the 1910 Census as a tobacco laborer. Not much else is known about this "junior" son who passed away at the age of 30 at the Mendota State Hospital in Madison.
