Ole S. Uleteig was born in Lesje, Guldbrandsdalen, Norway on January 4, 1889, and died at the Udgaard home in Cooperstown May 18, 1925. He grew to manhood on a farm and in 1911 immigrated to this country. Arriving at Kloten on May 18th he went directly to his uncle's farm where he was employed for several years. Later he bought a farm in Romness township and had since made his home there. On December 25, 1918 he was married to Miss Mathilda Dolva at Hawley, Minn. Mr. Uleteig had always been a strong, hard-working man and until a year ago had known no sickness. At that time he contracted the measles but seemed to recover satisfactorily. About five weeks before his fatal illness he was violently stricken while in Sharon on an errand. Kind friends took him to the home of Mrs. Herman and called medical aid. Here he had the best of care and in two days he was able to return to his home. He was getting along well when he had a relapse, but again he was apparently overcoming it. On Play Day he expressed the desire to his wife that they come to Cooperstown with Mr. and Mrs. Brudevig, which they did. He visited that afternoon, but friends could see he was not comfortable. However, he was ready to undertake the trip home in the evening, but this was not to be, for only a half mile out of town he felt unable to go on. Soon after the return to town he became unconscious and passed away that night at 10:30 the result of Bright's Disease. Besides his wife, he leaves two sisters and two brothers, who live in Norway. His mother and father having preceded him in death some years ago. Funeral services were held at the Udgaard home on Wednesday afternoon and interment was made in the Cooperstown cemetery. Attending the funeral from distances were: Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Dolva and Miss Ida Dolva of Hawley, Minn. and Carl Dolva of Morris, Minn.

"Ole Uleteig came to America from Lesja, Norway on May 18, 1911 to his Uncle Iver Udgaard, who was then living on his farm in Lenora Township. Miss Newfert, a teacher, in the Simonson school was boarding at the Udgaards, and she tutored Ole and a couple other men there in the American language and it took Ole no time to learn to read and write it, and he spoke it fluently. He was a hard working man. He went to the woods down near Bemidji, Minnesota and worked in the winter when work was slack on the farm. He went to Nashua, Montana, and filed on land and built himself a shack there. He had to live on it for some months to claim it. He got around on skis which he was use to from Norway. He worked for his uncle on his farm in Romness Township, in 1918 he farmed 1/2 Section of his uncle's land, and had the house built there, which is the Helen Udgaard farm now. He worked hard there planting trees and beautifying the place. He married Matilde Dolva in December 1918. They moved into the new house the spring of 1919. They had lived down at the Udgaard farm until the house was ready."
