Gustave Giese died on Thursday

Has been a resident of Menomonie for the past 37 years.

After an illness of only five days, Gutave Giese died of peritonitis at his home in the city at 2:30 o'clock Thursday, May 15 at the age of 62 years, 4 months and 20 days.

Mr. Giese was born in Germany in 1850 and came to this country when he was 16 years old. He lived at Watertown for several years before moving to Menomonie, coming here in 1875 and engaging in the blacksmith business at which he has worked ever since. He was married the same year that he came to Menomonie to Miss Dora Lutteman, who still survives him.

Mr. Giese, up until last Friday had hardly known a sick day and his death has come as a great shock to his many friends throughout the country. The funeral will be held from the house Sunday at one o'clock and from the German M.E. Church at two o'clock, interment to be made in the Evergreen cemetery.

He leaves to mourn him a wife, three daughters, Mrs Henry Webert of Rusk; Mrs C.H. Curl, of Minneapolis, Minn; Mrs M. Mattison, and Misses Alvina and Rose of Menomonie; two sons, A.O. Giese, of this city, and Leo Giese, of Eau Claire, and two brothers, Herman and Albert.
